What is PhotoFacial™?
PhotoFacial™ is a series of treatments intended to improve the appearance of sun-damaged or aged skin. It can also reduce redness and flushing, such as seen in a skin condition known as rosacea.

How does PhotoFacial™ work?
An intense non-laser light is emitted in a series of gentle pulses over areas of the skin that are affected. Treatments are performed at three-week intervals for a total of five PhotoFacial™ procedures. PhotoFacial™ can be done without the use of a topical anesthetic. However, patients with a low pain threshold can elect to apply topical anesthesia prior to PhotoFacial™.

Can similar results be accomplished with chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or a facelift?
Early clinical experience has shown dramatic improvement--on average, 90%-- in skin color and texture of the face, neck, chest, extremities, and back. Mild acne scars can be diminished, and large pores and fine line can be reduced. Most significantly, patients report no “downtime” in their daily schedule. Women are delighted to be able to wear less or no make-up at all following completion of the series of treatments.

How long do the results last?
Because the effects of repeated sun exposure, aging, and lifestyle choices are cumulative and variable, different patients will experience varying degrees of durability of their overall response to PhotoFacial™. PhotoFacial™ touchup treatments can be done safely and effectively as needed.

What are the side effects?
Few patients have reported slight skin blistering, swelling, redness, hyperpigmentation, scabbing, and flaking of the skin. There have been no reports of scarring, or worsening of the skin condition treated with PhotoFacial™.
