How Effective Is Latisse?

When you look in the mirror, are you disappointed by eyelashes that are thinner or lighter than you'd like? If so, Latisse® can help change that, so you can look and feel your best.

Whether you're seeking high-quality dermatologic or aesthetic treatments — or both — Dr. Carmelo Plateroti and our well-trained staff can help at our office of Plateroti Dermatology in Templeton, California. With more than 30 years of combined experience and our use of state-of-the-art Western medicine practices and holistic care, we can treat a wide variety of issues from skin cancer and varicose veins to thin eyelashes and more.

Eyelashes

Eyelashes don't just exist to accentuate our appearance. They serve a useful purpose by keeping everything from dirt and other irritants to sweat and water from getting in our eyes.

Our top eyelid contains anywhere from 200-300 lashes while the lower lid only has approximately 100. We lose one to five eyelashes each day, but an eyelash's growth cycle only takes about three months, so they regenerate relatively quickly.

Latisse

Even with hundreds of eyelashes on the upper lid, many people still feel they look sparse and thin. Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) can remedy that issue by helping the lashes become longer, thicker, and darker in color. Approved by the FDA, it is the only prescription treatment that can accomplish this goal.

Effectiveness

Often before trying a new product people wonder if it really works. In the case of Latisse, the answer is a definitive yes. During clinical trials, experts found that people who underwent treatment with Latisse had a 106% increase in the fullness and thickness of their lashes, a 25% increase in their length, and an 18% increase in their darkness.

Treatment

Unlike many treatments that need a doctor to administer them in the office, Latisse can be applied every night at home. You’ll apply a medicated solution to the base of the upper eyelashes each night for 16 weeks. Remove your contact lenses and makeup first, checking that you thoroughly clean your upper eyelids.

Users can expect to begin seeing more luscious lashes in four weeks from when treatment was started with the full results evident at the end of the 16-week period.
