NeoGraft® Hair Restoration: Everything You Need to Know

NeoGraft® Hair Restoration: Everything You Need to Know

Although hair loss can be a natural part of aging, it can also make people feel self-conscious and affect their confidence levels. If you're one of the approximately 50 million men or 30 million women who are suffering from this all-too-common affliction, you are not alone. Help is available in the form of NeoGraft®, an innovative procedure that can safely redistribute your hair follicles for a fuller-looking head of hair.

Dr. Carmelo Plateroti and our highly trained staff provide a wide range of dermatologic and aesthetic services at Plateroti Dermatology in Templeton, California. We combine state-of-the-art Western medicine with established holistic care for an integrative methodology that provides successful outcomes in everything from facial rejuvenation to hair transplants.

NeoGraft

When people think of a hair restoration treatment, they frequently envision an old-time transplant procedure that often involved staples, stitches, and scarring along with an extended recovery period. NeoGraft, on the other hand, is an advanced treatment that provides natural-looking results with little to no discomfort and a faster recovery time.

How it works

Using the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method, the NeoGraft procedure removes hair follicles from places on the head that have thick hair and transplants them to areas with thinning hair that need additional follicles.

Unlike the traditional FUE method in which the medical professional chooses and removes individual hair follicles by hand, the NeoGraft procedure employs a specialized technique to harvest the follicles in their natural groups of one to four hairs. This is accomplished using a pneumatic, no-touch technology that is the only one of its kind to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Once we remove these follicles, we carefully add them to places on the scalp that have suffered from hair loss.

Good candidates

Both men and women can benefit from treatment with NeoGraft. Successful candidates are typically in good health and able to have topical anesthesia. If hair loss is caused by a health condition or medication, the procedure's effects may not be permanent.

Recovery and results

NeoGraft offers a shorter recovery time than other transplant methods, and often, people can return to work and their daily routine the following day. During the healing process, very small scabs will form, but they should fall off within two weeks.

The results of NeoGraft are permanent though it can take 6-12 months to see the full benefit of treatment as it takes time for the hairs to naturally regrow in their new locations.

If you've been lamenting the thinning of your hair or balding of your scalp, you may be a perfect candidate for NeoGraft. To learn more about this procedure, click our request appointment button today, or call us at 805-434-2526.
